Homely Days

I was beginning to feel like the Sun was never coming back.
We were all feeling quite depressed.
But we tried to keep
busy on our cold grey days.
Things that had been put off, finally got done.

One wall papered in our family room.
Cabbages & Roses Blue Hatley.
We love it, our room looks like it should be in a little cottage now!

And I now have a dedicated day for sewing now.
Once a week I meet with a friend and we make something.
It is a leaning curve, but so much more fun when there are two of you.

Flowers from the garden at last.
I go for a walk in the garden early in the morning.
It is quiet, just the birds and my dogs for company.
Cut three stems from one of my favourite plants.
I am happy to potter about the home on days like these.
So today with the sun shining all day...yippee...
I gardened, after a very very quick bit of housework.

Mostly just putting things away.
I hate mess.
The boys toys turn up in some funny places.
But when Freddie returns he knows exactly where he has left them, in my clogs!

I have been moving things around as I tidy.
This must be a spring thing, do you find the urge to sort everything out in the spring?

I love Herbs in the kitchen.
I planted this jar with some Mint.
I think it looks quite nice, just hanging there waiting to be eaten.
Have you seen Jamie's Minted Sugar?

The study is starting to look better and much tidier.
I have almost finished the curtains in the study which helps.
It is such a difficult window to dress though.

The tie backs sewn and pinned into place, waiting for the rings to be attached.
I have more plans for this room.
So I will do a before and an after image for my blog.
I am so tempted to be bold in this room and paint maybe just one wall very dark grey or maybe just the ceiling dark!

I have far too many toys in the nursery.
The boys really only play with a few of their favourites.
Time for a sort and throw out.
And I could do with the extra space in the toy box for my material stash.

As I write, I am in a dreamy mood.
I guess this is the lull after our storm!
I look at my images and they all seem quite pale and dreamy.
I like this look.
My home is full of muted colours, they flow from one room and into the next.
Apart from the room full of Roses.

Finally, this Sunday I had Jude and Fin all day.
The house was ours alone.
Lovely.
So we stayed in our bed clothes all day.
It was so good not to have to get dressed.
It is good to have a day of total relaxation.
I cooked and baked.
Made meals to freeze and the boys played camps under the kitchen table.

I wonder what memories they will have of our days together.

Teddy is one of the boys now.
How fast he has grown.
How fast time flies.

That boys hair has a will of its own!
This boy is the Cheeky one.

Happy Days.

Well one thing my boys will be able to do when they leave home, is cook.

They all love making cakes!

They all love gardening too.
So next time I will post something garden pictures.
Today I was in the garden all day.
Potting and planting out.
I am going to ache tomorrow!
Bye for now my bed is calling.

Well hello again!!

I have followed you so long and was more than a little sad to see you go private. I did think it permanent while Simply Scandinavian was your public blog. Lovely to see you back again.... the pic of Cabbages and Roses Wallpaper was like dangling a carrot!! We have that in my daughters room, so beautiful. Now off for a lovely catch-up of your site!
