Things That Make Me Happy

Well firstly there is great excitement as we, Katie and I have booked our tickets for Saturday afternoon to visit the Country Living Fair in Islington.

So we will be off lunchtime tomorrow, leaving all men behind, yippee and will indulge ourselves in sheer happiness as we explore all the wonderful stalls that will be exhibiting there.

Happiness, preparing the evening meal with Jude playing happily by me feet or sitting in his highchair munching on a piece of toast while he waits for his bedtime bottle.

Happy that at last the bookcase is now painted and I can play with my arrangements till my hearts content.

Happy that one curtain is finished and can now be hung properly.
The other is almost finished!
These curtains are so soft and light, perfect for the summer months.

So happy that I beat Guy to my new Kate Forman catalogue.
Anything that the postman puts through the letterbox wrapped in plastic get tossed around the hall until he has managed to get all the plastic off!

The images above and below are from the new Kate Forman catalogue.
Full of beautiful pictures, fabrics and inspiration.
I get so much pleasure from my home, it is just finding time to juggle all the things that I want to do and Have to do!

On my recent visit to Bath I also bought these Georgian Pewter side plates.
Pewter is a big Happy for me.
But not tankards!
Just need Mr N to get on and make the shelves so I can display them properly.

The little silver baby spoon was a gift from the lovely lady who owned the shop.

Happy to spot these!
Two very cheap but very pretty vases, 50p each! I believe from Holland.
Well that is what the lady in the shop said, maybe not!
Any clues please ?
How can a growing spoon collection make me Happy!?

It just does.

Mum does not bake anymore.

I was so happy that I managed to rescue her lovely old baking tins before Dad recycled them!

Happy to be able to use this beautiful cutlery and serving spoons.
So much nicer than anything new or modern.

Happy to have spotted these in Greenwich Market but not so happy at the huge price I had to pay for them.
I want to hang them in my kitchen, it is just I cannot decide whether to drill a small hole in them for the string or glue them onto the wall?

And on my last visit to Braodstairs we stopped at Whitestable as there are some very nice little shops there.
I bought this 1950's plastic trinket box, very happy me.
And Mr N bought yet another crotchet blanket ! ! !
for Nigella the VW Camper van......
He moans when I start collections....he must have at least 7 crotchet blankets that he
Just Had To Have!
Well that is it from me for today.
Now I have to get on with the boring housework again.
Not quite so Happy about that.
Have a wonderful weekend all.

Hello Carol! Happy post makes me happy too. Little Jude sitting there makes me think about my little man, now 12 almost 13, he was just as lovely (oh you won't believe that!). You will have a great time at the Country fair, have fun! You bought already such lovelies. The vases are unbelievable cheap, but I would say they are portuguese, not that I'm an expert, it's just that I never have seen anything like that over here.
Have a great weekend!

Hi Carol

I replied to your email but it was rejected! I feel so unwanted now! ;-)

When I phoned for my tickets they didn't ask what time I wanted! We're going in the morning & are picking up our tickets at the door so I hope they let us in!

Enjoy the fair Carol. I went today but only had a couple of hours to spend there. My Mum used to have baking tins like your Mum's. I remember the tins with the shell shape in the bottom.

Have a wonderful time in the big smoke Carol..
Don't forget your scrum kit... it does require a bit of stamina but the CL fair is well worth a visit...

I am not sure but your vases look like Majolica to me.. which comes from all over Europe..
Have they got any marks on the bottom..

Lots of love to you

Have a wonderful time at the Country Living Fair. I went to the Spring one about 3 years ago and loved it. Such lovely things in your photos. I would hang those pretty tins together in a display if they were mine. Isn't the photography in Kate Forman's catalogues wonderful. I visited her shop not so long ago and met her (but I didn't buy anything!).

Great bun tins, I can imagine some very nice little sponge cakes falling out of the patterned one. Jude is such a dear little fellow, no wonder you are happy to have him around the place. x

Hi Carol,

Lovely things that make you happy, great post. I do remember my mum having tins like that, the mince pies always had shells on the bottom, which to me seemed a bit odd, shells are for summer they should have had holly leaves on them! Hope you had a great time at the fair.

Loved everything about this post!
I think that lovely Lili M. may be right!
Being Portuguese myself... the vases seem to be either Spanish or Portuguese!
Although, I`m sot an expert! Lol
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
