Getting Ready For Christmas. And Some Of My Wares!

My next post will be my 100th, so I will having a Christmas Giveaway...I must get on and make something for it now......
It has been a good week so far. A little bit of everything has been achieved. Prep's for Christmas and a little Christmas shopping. The decorating of the family room has started too.
Sorry to mention that word again The Fair! but I wanted to show you these lovely little tin's which I brought from Lynn @ Sea Angles.....
If you have the same problem I have, you may sympathise with me, numbering the kitchen cupboards may be a good idea, we shall see. The reason being that when Mr N. wants to find something in the kitchen I have to give very precise directions, almost down to the last Inch in order that he can spot whatever it is that he wants.

Monday I had a lovely day visiting one of my most favorite shop's. Cabbages & Roses in Chelsea
I was not going to lug my camera about on a shopping trip, which I always regret¬ but I did manage to find this image on the Internet to show you. I would have preferred to have taken my own as the shop looked wonderful all decorated ready for Christmas.
We spent most of the day in the Kings Road. It was cold, but refreshing to be out, rather than shopping inside Bluewater. The day was finished off in a very old little pub in Villiers Street by Charing Cross Station. The pub was dark inside lit mostly by candles and twinkling lights. When I return to the City I always feel quite at home. This is where I was born and my parents and their parents were born, lived and worked.
We sat and enjoyed watching the world rush by, some running to catch trains and others laden with bag's of Christmas shopping. Mostly everyone, was wrapped up in a big coat and woolly hat. There was a good feeling in the atmosphere, like Christmas this year was going to be a less materialistic, one but a Special One.
~~~
I wanted an advent calender of some sort....I wish I had waited now, I saw this extremely long Advent Bunting at our local Farm Shop and bought it. I wish I had waited as in Cabbages & Roses I saw the lovely little Rusty Bucket one that I have on my sidebar!
The problem I have is where to put it for now.
We are decorating the family room, which is where I would normally hang it.
I have it draped, a bit messily! in my kitchen, not the best place for it to be.Too cute to resist really!
I have been meaning to add some of the items I made for the Fair onto my Blog Shop.....as usual for me, just not enough time. I am writing this post in between painting the walls. So I will show you them on this blog and may get round to listing them at some other time, along with quite a few other bits we made.
This is one of my loose lampshade covers, made in one of my favourite designer materials.
And a matching Heart to go with it.
Off White Linen Doves.
Embellished Heart and a With Love Heart.
I have made so many of these little Hearts some with Lavender and some without!
Little tiny Doves for the Christmas Tree.
Embroidered with Love.
One of a pair of White Linen loose lampshade covers with embroidery.
Closer look!
I hope to get some things listed on my Blog Shop, before Christmas!
The paintbrush is getting dry, so must get on.....have a lovely weekend all.
I love the idea of numbering the kitchen cupboards! The things that you made are very pretty and feminine looking. No such room for prettiness in my house at the moment. It is so full of clutter and in need of a good sort out and tidy up. I like shopping outside too. I get so claustrophobic in shopping centres and would much rather be out in the elements!
I would love to have visited Cabbages and Roses.
You've been incredibly busy!!
Numbering the cupboards is a brilliant idea - perhaps a grid reference as well, then they just might find what they are looking for.
Hmmm...maybe a cupboard sat-nav might be a good idea!
Oh Carol it is most comforting to know that our men are so similar. Mr C will not find things unless they have a red flashing light attached to them so I am forever coming to the rescue!
Your room looks beautifully serene.. are those the colours you were telling me about?
I am going to make sure I get to London next year.. it seems like a million miles away and yet is only 2 hours on the train.. Maybe we could meet in that little pub you mentioned!?
With love and hugs
I think your advent calender is just gorgeous - I like the bucket one too but it probably wouldn't last 2 minutes here. Looking forward to seeing your finished room
I think that with most men, if it is not in front of their noses they just do not see it do they?!! Sounds like you had a lovely day, I really must get on with getting some Christmas trimmings out, I feel like I am getting a bit behind with the Festivities!!
Gosh it's so long since I last visited your blog. I've enjoyed spending some time just now going back over a lot of your old posts. I love the kitchen cupboard numbers. Wish our kitchen was big enough to warrant such an idea! The items you made for the fair are really lovely. I so wish I could have got to the fair. Really hope to manage the next one.
I think it's a great idea to number your cupboards...especially in such a pretty way.
I find men open a cupboard or in this house, the fridge and if it isn't staring them in the face right at the front, "it isn't there!" I call it a 'man-look'. What are we going to do with them?
I love your little doves btw
Such good ideas! Especially the lampshades - I wish now I'd bought the lamps I saw in the charity shop yesterday now - they were only £2.50 each, in blue which put me off a bit, but I suppose I could have painted them. Wonder if they're still there?
There was also a terrific coat in size 18 for only £8. I'm not size 18 but £8 is such a bargain. My lovely man didn't like it though - said it was too big ... hence came home with nothing.
I used to have some of those little tins you've got on the cupboards. They went rusty as I lived in such a damp house then - that would be a bonus now with the vintage look though.
Dear Carol,
I'm so sorry it's been ages now and i just can't beleive it that Daisy and i bought something from your fabulous stall at the Vintage fair in Rangeworthy and didn't even get to meet you.
The little bird is now hanging on our Christmas tree and Daisy wants it in her room once Christmas is done with.
I just loved your stall and love the pink heart with the word love on it in thsi post, how much sweetie?
Sorry to have missed you there would of loved to meet you. I stayed for a while and chatted to Julia from Vintage heaven, she's fab.
Well drop me an email honey and we'll catch up and i can let you know our new address.
Love ,
Hello Carol!!! How strange I was just going to visit your blog when you left such a lovely comment on mine!!! Wouldn;t it be lovely if you could pop over for a cup of tea, that would be fun. Your house is looking beautiful in these photos, I think I might have to number our cupboards too, Mr Roses is hopeless at finding anything.
I shall return again soon for that giveways .... Take care, enjoy your lovely home and thanks for your kind words
