My Big Fat Greek Foot

Yes these are my feet - I did my own pedicure, without glasses, so please ignore the rough edges!

As you may have noticed, one foot is slightly chubby. The reason, I fell off my bike. It did seem like a good idea at the time, a bike ride along the new cycle path which runs along the edge of the rocky coastline. This path took us to a wonderful little fishing village call Agios Nikos. We were going there for a nice light lunch and a cold beer. As we set off I felt like one of the Famous Five on a new adventure and quite surprised my Hubby as I zoomed off through the Olive Grove on my mountain bike..........more to come.....

We had been invited by two special friends, Tina and Dave to spend 10 days with them in there 'almost' finished villa in Stoupa, Greece.

It has taken almost 2 years to complete - from Olive Grove - to a private villa with pool and lovely garden, but no roads yet............but this is another story ! This picture shows the back of the villa. The gardens are on three sides. The villa has been built with traditional Greek stone.

A 'rescued' Greek chair which now lives on the balcony. Everyone who stays there is invited to take their own picture of the chair for a colllection that will be framed oneday. These chairs are not made for comfort ! Almost all the the tavernas have them. I love the look but spend all evening wriggling around on it trying to find a comfy spot.Inside the open plan living room is bright and airy and located on the first floor. Three double bedrooms are on the ground floor along with two wet rooms and laundry area.

Thers is a log burning oven and two doors which lead out onto the balcony.

My most favorite part of the villa is the balcony. It would be easy to just sit hear all day and read. But better still, the evenings on this balcony are simply the best, sitting out here with a nice chilled drink before going out to dine is what made this villa unique from so many others that we have stayed in.

Do you like the washing line, tied between two olive trees. This was a lovely spot for lunch, under the shade of the olive trees.

And the local beach, just a short walk through the olive grove and across one road. This little beach was very pretty and the friendly Greeks who serve in the Tavernas made taking shelter from the sun with a Greek salad and Myros beer very inviting!

We saw lots of these old VW's.......

And lots of this....lunch in beach Tavernas, looking out to sea.........

Hundreds of them.....small slim cats...all very friendly and affectionate. But this one with Bowie eyes I had to show you.

And lastly, this the the little fishing village where I had my ill fated lunch...suffering in silence !
We flew home arriving in the very early hours of Sunday....bed....and then up and off to a Wedding ! I hobbled along in High Heels...how I suffered.

Sunday night was a very bad night, the pain was getting unbearable.

I went to hospital very early on Monday morning. After 5 X-rays I was told I had broken my leg, my fibular infact. I was put in a back cast until the swelling has gone, I go back on the 17th October for a full plaster and more x-rays, to check that the bone is stable.

My toes are black due to the bad bruising, although the swelling has reduced considerably since being home and resting.

This is not fun, being laid up...I have so much to do.........hurry up and get better poor leg !

I am off to check out what you have been up to now. Have a great weekend all.C xxx

You poor thing, that looks painful, your poor purple toes! How on earth did you manage to walk in high heels all day at a wedding?
Holiday looks great, so relaxing. I know that feeling of 'almost' being finished villa. We've been waiting for ours to be finished out in Cyprus for almost 2 years now, but hopefully we'll all be holidaying there next year, fingers crossed.
Take care

What a lovely trip - but awful accident! How is your foot doing now? I hope you won't let it spoil your magnificent memories of Greece - such a beautiful home - open and airy inside and what a relaxing looking balcony! I feel like I could just step out with a nice glass of wine....

I hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks so much for your lovely comments!
I`m so sorry to hear about your foot!
Although it was "good" that the awful accident didn`t happened in the beginning of your wonderful holidays!
Or, maybe if it did happened then... you could have enjoyed reading a book on the company of one or two glasses of wine... in that wonderful balcony!
The view is amazing!
I hope that you will soon be on your feet!
And able to do all the things that you can`t do now!
Kisses
Debbie Moss

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I can imagine the great pain you must have been in battling on with a broken leg! So unfortunate for this to happen to you on holiday Carol, and when you were having so much fun. I hope today you are starting to feel on the mend. I so know what you mean about uncomfortable chairs in restaurants. I hate those wicker ones that your bottom sinks into, and you end up not being able to reach the table! x
