You Can Bring Rose With The Turned Up Nose, But Don't Bring Lou Lou

My Old Faithfuls !

Well here they are by special request of Michele

This is Lou Lou, she is a Poodle, hand knitted and loved almost to death. Lou Lou is full of holes from all the washing and loving.
She was present from Aunt Bette when I was about 18 months old.
The next image is of Panda, not a very original name I know! He belonged to my brother John and I adopted him when I was born.......John is 12 years older than me and did not look after Panda as he should have done.
Big Ted is the orange bear with one eye missing. I can remember crying when his eye fell out.
I loved big Ted the best. My Mum bought him - in a hurry - she had received a call from my Godmother who rang to say that she had bought me a lovely Teddy. Mum told that I had one already! Mum knew from previous experience that my Godmothers toys came Big, too big and would arrive on the back of a low loader! So Mum said that she should keep this Teddy at her house for when I visited.

Mum was right of course, as Mums always are. When we went to visit Godmother Florence I saw the Teddy in a spare bedroom he completly covered the spare double bed!!! I thought Mum was mean not letting me take him home.
Little Ted, as he was known is probably the most valuable of my soft toys. He went with me to infant school every day in his carrycot. He wore little Ted clothes. I think the other three were very jealous of little Ted.

The song 'You can bring Rose' which is the title of this post, is one that I remember singing with my Dad, does anyone else remember it?

Talk about being teary eyed. What sweet pals we all had when we were growing up huh....I'm misty eyed. I don't think I have any pals from my childhoodleft. I do have an assortment of things that my mother saved for me from my baby shower. I should post them on my blog. I just love nostalgia don't you?

Hugs,
Deanna :)

Thank you so much for indulging me by posting your beloved toys.. they are wonderful and look so well loved and chewed! Isn't it amazing that we make and break friendships throughout our lives but we can hang on to these treasures for a lifetime..
I have a russian doll that my mother bought me when I was a baby which is one of my treasured posessions.. she must be ..oooh.. 40 something now!
I love your little Ted the best..

Hi Carol, how cute are these darlings! You have kept them well and loved all this time, that is so sweet. Love Lulu! I (Jenn) have my baby doll fom the '60's and I adore her :) Jacqui is only 17 so she still has all her teddies on the bed! Don't know the song unfortunately but it's so nice for you to keep memories of it :) Have a great week Carol! Jenn and Jacqui

Now this is just what I needed today. I love your "kids" especially Rose with the Turned up Nose...the top bunk in my granddaughters room if filled with Stuffed animals, it's their haven...

"Your presence is requested," wrote little Johnny White,
"But with is invitation, there is a stipulation,
When you attend this party, you'll be treated right, but
There's a wild and wooly woman you boys can't invite, now.
Chorus:
You can bring Pearl, she's a darn nice girl, but don't bring Lulu.
You can bring Rose with the turned up nose, but don't bring Lulu.
Lulu always wants to do, what we boys don't want her to,
When she struts her stuff around, London bridge is falling down,
You can bring cake or Porterhouse steak, but don't bring Lulu.
Lulu gets blue and she goes cuckoo like the clock on the shelf,
She's the kind of smartie who breaks up every party,
Hullabaloo loo, don't bring Lulu, I'll bring her myself.

We all went to the party, real hi-toned affair,
Then along came Lulu, wild as any Zulu,
She started into Charleston, and how the boys did stare, but
When she did the hula-hula, then she got the air, now.

Just for you Carol, now if I can learn the tune, lets have a sing along!

I have learned the saying 'Rose with the turned up nose' from Mum, so she must have known the song, I think I can hum some of the tune? Lovely to see your old well loved toys. Some people call me Lou Lou, I am full of holes and loved to death! x
