Girls Part 11

Debbie said on a whim, lets go to see Loraine.
Loriane moved away from London first to Wiltshire and then to the Midlands when her children were very young.
It was a sad time, but Hub's job had called, so off they went.
We three had met many moons ago.
Loraine and I with our first pregnancy at ante natal classes.
Debbie when our babies were toddlers.
Arriving in Birmingham for a quick visit to the Bull Ring, (for those of you who may not know, the Bull Ring is a shopping centre, then back to Loraine's to stay a night.
I am showing Loraine (on the left) what Blog is!

We enjoy interiors, gardens and food etc...
Blogs have been a wonderful source of information for me.
Blogs have given me the inspiration to get up and get on with.
As you are all aware I'm sure, one blog leads to another and then before you know it,
hours have passed.
What we ought to be doing, has not been done!
Loraine is currently re-decorating her lounge.
So with camera at the ready in my hand bag,
I snapped a few images for you
As is often he case, I return home and wish I had taken more!

Trying to get a good image as I hold the digital at arms length is trail and error.
Still, you have an image of us.

Anyway moving on....the house.
This kitchen was a contemporary, beech wood kitchen with beech work surfaces and modern style handles just a few months ago.
Modern had to go.

Rather than buy a whole new kitchen, new doors were made and fitted.
Loraine painted everything with F&B in one of the shades of white.
Some work surfaces are granite, the rest oak.

The lounge is almost finished.
The carpet needs to be chosen.
And a few things hung.
No names being mentioned here.

Loraine has painted her wall in Slipper Satin and the woodwork and furniture in various shades or pale greys and whites.

Accessories are mainly in silver.
Debbie is looking at what is really an Ice Bucket.
Loraine bought it to display rather than use.
Take no notice of Deb, she is just playing at posing for our house shoot!

The cool colours evoke a peaceful atmosphere.
And with three grown children Still at Home !
Loraine needs as much peace as she can get!
Very New England.

The chair shown here was £25.00 on EBay!
Loraine loves her flowers.

Wood frames painted the same shade as the furniture, a great favourite of mine
Cornforth White.

Into the garden we go.
A summer house, bought as ex-display has been placed where the last of the evening sum can be enjoyed.
Re-painted in one day, Loraine tells me.
So girls it can be done with determination.
The rear of the house had just been fitted with a small extension,
rather than replace the rotted original wooden bow window.
It also means that the doors can be opened full width to bring the garden into the house.
The New England look is gorgeous.
Just need a little beach here somewhere!

After much talk,
a very late night or rather very early morning
we eventually retired to our beds.
After just three hours sleep we hit the shops and the cocktail bar.
Well it has to be done sometimes.
Going home back to London on almost the last train,
Debbie and I sat in silence.
Stunned, I guess you may call our expressions!
Back to work the summer hols over.
I hope that you enjoyed this short tour.
The sun is low and still very warm.
I am loving Autumn already.
Enjoy your weekend.
Carol

Your friend has a lovely house and an eye for a bargain too! I love the summer house but I bet if I had one it would be full of junk like the shed that we curently have. I bet your friend was pleasantly surprised to see you both! x

Hi Carol
What a lovely house and fab colours!
Thanks so much for your comments on my blog, I loved Tenderton, and you're right the shops are great. The beach piccie is Winchelsea - another pretty place! Joining the NT has forced us to go out at weekends rather than being tied up with jobs so it's been money well spent!

Isn't it lovely to have a 'girly' time now and again!
I love the Bullring, I think I visit it more now than when I lived in Birmingham!

Will she thank you for introducing her to blogging?
