Vintage Enamel, Spicey Cook Book & Lakelands

No News Yet!
But this baby is definitely going to be here by next Tuesday as Katie will have to be taken into hospital on Monday and be induced.
We have tried a few old wives tricks....didn't work.
So any suggestions would be gratefully welcomed as Katie would dearly love to stay at home to have this baby.
I have always wanted Cath Kidston's Wooden Stanley.
I love Lakeland's and would recommend anyone thinking abut having a dog to read up on this breed.
They are very intelligent, extremely loyal, love the children and other dogs, are small - so very easy to look after and transport about....mine has been to the pub inside my big handbag!
And most importantly, they do not moult .....you have to strip out the old fur which is very easy to do, Guy appeared to be in a very relaxed mood and enjoyed having his fur pulled out...it does not hurt!
The best tip I can offer is....tough love....Lakeland's being of the Terrier breed need firm Mum's, no nonsense; otherwise they will dominate you!
Cath Kidston has not included Stanley in the toy section this year - she may do later I was told. I called a few CK shops and managed to locate one which was sent from Brighton to Tunbridge Wells.....new shop and just wonderful!
I went with hub and collected it on Saturday.
For now, he is on display with my most recent EBay purchase a felt Stanley on the mantle and will be relocated to the nursery later.

Walking, walking and more vintage enamelware.
Katie and I went to Otford for little shopping and lunch.
We have been walking a lot in the hope that gravity will work its wonders.
I spotted this white enamel colander and had to give it a new home....love white.
And a vintage Tea Towel which I will embroider my initials on in red.
Also found this lovely white enamel Sugar container which I have filled with little children friendly sweeties...for good little boys and me.

A new enamel tin from John Lewis ....not as nice as the old but I cannot find a Vintage one for soap powder.
Lastly, this is a gorgeous book to own...if you like cook books and spicy food this is a must.
The pictures are big and bright and make you want to try something new.
I should make a hot and spicy Thai curry for Katie !

Cook books with big pictures are the best.

Have a great week all, I pray that on my next post I have some good news.
Carol xx

oh you lucky lucky thing!!! A wooden Stanley! Lets hope Ms Kidston brings them out again!
I Haven't got any tips for katie, I'm afraid, I was in the same boat when expecting and heard all the old wives tales going..the last few weeks waiting are definately the worse, poor Katie!

I really like your new enamel goodies by the way..lovely!

Dear Carol...I know you are excited as can be...our Guy is quite the ...well, guy, isn't he? I can't believe how he's grown! The littlun here was up early for his/her feed and really tied that old feed bag on, too. He's starting to play a bit and I'm learning more about a mother cat's potty teaching habits than I really wanted to know! If you go on Kari's site (Livin' Large) she has pictures of her brand new granddaughter posted...Jodie had Miss Kara this past weekend!
hugs

I've wanted to email you and ask if there was any news but I thought you might be getting tired of people asking you! My friend still has not had the baby! I suggested to her pink grapefruit juice as that was suggested when I was overdue with little dear, I never got the chance to try it as I was then induced due to High Blood Presure!

No news on the imminent arrival! Let's hope baby comes soon. He/she is going to love the Stanley, will it be played with or kept as an heirloom, what a dilemma? Guy is just so cute, don't be too firm Mum! Nice buys too. x

Hello Carol, thanks for the comments on my blog. Yes I do sell my crochet bunnies, making some more at the moment, will post some pics when ready! A tip given to me from my midwife to induce labour was, to have erm, how shall I put it? A special snuggle with ones husband. Yep thats right, I won't go into details, but it softens the cervix apparently! Can't wait for the baby pics. lovely to have found you. Fi x

I've been popping over to look for news, so was very glad to see you'd been by my blog this morning. That waiting and waiting - like being suspended in time. I remember my sister was overdue - a long walk, a spicy pizza and a glass of red wine, and by the time we returned from the restaurant things were underway! Perhaps you'd best open the new cookbook and make something for dinner!
Lovely new/old enamal ware. I collect enamal ware in a lovely shade of blue, from Denmark.
I must look up Lakeland Terriers. I've always had a Cairn Terrier - same kind of coat, same personality!

Yes Stanley is lovely, I was looking at those ones on ebay too!the other week.
I know with my first she was 11 days late and my second 11 days early. Funny enough they weighed eight pounds 2 & a half & Lewis weighed eight pounds three oz. I think I am glad lewis came a little early!, otherwise may have been a nine pounder!. Apart from eating a hot curry I dont know. How exciting though!
Yes I think kitchen trolley will house my bigger utensils & potatoes at the bottom !. I love all your kitchen goodies.
Your baby Guy is lovely too!

Hi Carol, Have been checking your blog daily to see any news of the "wee one"! Love seeing all your photos, being an "enamelware" lover as well! I picked up 3 very large nesting white bowls from Martha by Mail years ago, which have proved indispensible with cooking & entertaining. I also have a question?...In the photo of yoout little dog...Are those car seat covers store bought or did you make them?..Cath Kidson fabric?? I just LOVE them!!! Sorry for writing a novel here...Enjoy the day!...Heidi :)

I was just going to suggest a curry - hope yours does the trick. Have I mentioned pineapple juice, somebody told me that it can help, perhaps curry and pineapple juice whilst walking! Anyway good luck - fingers crossed. Love the wooden Stanley but not as much as your little Guy

Hi,

I know nowt about babies so can't offer any advice, but I know grapefruit has eostrogen-mimicking compounds in so there probably is an element of truth in drinking grapefruit juice! I love your little dog, he's so cute! I love those little terriers and if we didn't have chickens (the little dogs have been known to hurt them!) and Rosie the cat I would love one.

I didn't realise Cath Kidston had a shop in Tunbridge Wells! I've been trapesing up to Wimbledon when I could have gone there!

Good luck

I am looking forward to going! I always have to restrain myself when we go to her shops because, as you say, you could buy the whole lot! I cannot recommend Sussex enough, it really is stunning and I know the area so well because all my family have always lived around here. I love close to Horsted Keynes where the Blue Bell railway is, it's very pretty round here.

Another great post. Love your Sugar container. Best wishes on the new grandbaby. No tips for the Mom although my Auntie swore she had a recipe for determining boys or girls-- but it's a little late for that. Good luck this coming week.

Hi Carol, can't help on the baby front, hope there's good news soon though! Guy is looking so cute as do your Stanleys on the mantelpiece. Good finds with the enamelware too - I don't come across that too often, apart from my blue bread bin in the kitchen which was a charity shop bargain.

Lakelands have so much character don't they. My dad used to breed Airdales, I love the terrier cheekiness .... and that Stanley is just fab isn't he.

Raspberry tea I've heard is good

Hope Katie isn't finding the waiting too tough - I was two weks over with B and boy it gets boring! But do tell her to make the most of it, feet up, relaxing and all that.
Love your finds, I have exactly the same Laundry bin from John Lewis. Such a gentle colour, I think I might paint our kitchen walls the same shade. I think I've over done off-white a bit in the new house.
Fingers crossed for an eventful weekend!

The only tip I can give Katie is to get some rest before the baby comes, and when it does, just have a wonderful time with the little sweetie.

I used to take Rufus and Millie out in a bag when they were puppies they toured Costa's, Starbucks, Borders, John Lewis and they were as good as gold, dom't know what happened, as they are now complete little B's

Hope the baby arrives before tuesday.

Oh I really hope baby arrives so Katie can fullfill her wishes of a home birth. I was induced with Elliott on Boxing Day it was a strange feeling eating my christmas dinner knowing I was going to give birth the next day! There's no knowing with babies when they decide to make an appearance and not alot you can do about it I think. Who knows it could all be happening as I write!!
All the best!
Ps Stanley's lovely!
