Peek A Boo

Oh how great it feels to be normal again!

I have been so ill for the last 4 days, very unlike me really.
I do get an off day but must say that I cannot remember a bug this bad for years.
And I have lost 4 lb hoorah! just a small consolation...........

I saw over at Cowboys & Custard a photo of Michele and thought what a great game. Just a snippit, a little peek. It really does bring someone who you have been chatting to, to life!
This is me this morning, full of the Joys Of Winter........

I have been very good, done the housework.......... not all of it, but made a good start.

Now I can sew with no guilt.

Here is the pile of material waiting to be made into curtains. (There is a lot more!).
A friend has shown me how to smock.
I really enjoy it. It is so simple and so effective.

This is a practice piece of material.
Now that I know I can do it, I will make an attempt a baby girl's dress or baby boy's romper, for Katies little bump!
Katie has came over today to see me. She has a very petite frame and I was pleasantly suprised to see 'bump' has popped out all of a sudden! and kicking...........
I would sort of like to know what it is.
We are going to wait for the suprise instead, just as we older Mummy's had to do.

Thank you for visiting my blog! I see from your sidebar that you perhaps live in Cornwall? I would so love to visit there! We've been to England many times but never ventured in that direction. I've been told that Cornwall is very much like Cape Cod. We have many British expats here on the Cape, and I suppose that connection is true! I will be back to read more of your blog, too!

Hi, that self-portrait photo is a really good idea, Michele may have started a trend there (found you from her blog). I would do one but the light's really bad right now - maybe tomorrow?...
I love seeing piles of fabric waiting to be sewn up, makes my tummy flutter with anticipation! Loved your post on your old faithfuls too.
best wishes
Lucy

Okay Carol, now we all know what a relapse is...Thank Heaven you don't have Thanksgiving meals to cook, but just remember, we are all thankful that you are feeling better! DON'T OVERDO...when you begin to feel peckish, have a snack, while you read a book...hmm...a glass of sherry wouldn't come amiss, either...or merlot if you are not a sherry lover...I am, lol...stay well, see you on Friday...gonna be busy cooking and serving tomorrow! And being oh so thankful to sit down and rest at the end of the day! Oh, and Nancy Atherton's Aunt Dimity books....have you heard of them? They're treasures!

Carole, I do hope you are feeling better now, these bugs really do drag you down. I saw Michele's picture of herself and now seeing yours I shall try and do one of myself. I love your gingham material and the blue spotty, two of my favourite things. Is Katie your daughter? x

Hi Louise,
Katie is my daughter, bless her.
She is 19 weeks pregnant today, she will be 25 years old this Friday. God that does make me sound old! I was a young Mum! I am still in my forties.
We have a hunch it is a girl, but we shall have to wait and see...
I love gingham too, always have.
I have a little gingham needlework case that I made with a cross stitch patten on the front when I was about 7 or 8 years old, do they still make things like this at school?

Hello Carol
Well.. it seems the self portraits are catching on!
I am such a curious creature and would love to know what everyone looks like but respect their reasons for a certain anonymity.. this way we get a sneak preview.
I am so impressed with your smocking.. wow!
I can only just thread a needle so can't imagine what's involved with that beautiful piece of smocking.
So glad you are feeling better.

Hi Carol, sorry you have not been well, hope you are fighting fit now!! This year we also have been ill twice with a nasty flu type virus, each time we were in bed for about 4 days, so frustrating and so draining! Your pile of fabric looks gorgeous, happy sewing there with such pretty prints :) Love smocking, it's just made for a little girls dress!! Oh yes the fabric our bracelet in the Prom photos is LA, it's bed linen, called Country Garden Roses or something like that?! It came in pink and blue colourways. Have a great day Carol!
