Katie's New Kitchen

It is all so exciting for Katie & Paul, their first brand new fitted kitchen.

I know that some of you love to see the before and after shots so thought that you may like to see Katie's kitchen.
The carpenter was there for 3 days. Basically the kitchen had been made in the workshop. The carpenter fitted the cabinets, then the oak work surface, plinths and shelving.
He done an excellent job.
The kitchen is hand painted in Farrow & Ball Shaded White - very similar to my own kitchen.Katie did not want tiles, just an oak up stand and the wall painted in Farrow & Ball Pointing - Modern Emulsion which is excellent for keeping clean!
A black Range Cooker has been fitted into the chimney breast, which had to be widened - Paul her Hubby is a builder so that was not a problem. The kitchen was completely re-wired, re-plumbed, re-plastered and new a floor and ceiling lights fitted.

This is the oak work surface being cut to size.

Mu hubby plumbed in the Belfast sink.........do you know the difference between a Butler sink and a Belfast sink?
Answer- The Belfast sink has an overflow as there was no shortage of water in Ireland where they were made. The Butler sink has no overflow because of the shortage of water in London!
Well that was what the carpenter told us and I have not checked this out yet.

Katie and her kitchen
See the twig Heart.........I bought........... as you have probably guessed anyway.

Katie is now 20 weeks pregnant if you enlarge this image you can see the little bump.... just about!

The oak shelves are still missing, they should have been fitted by the carpenter but he was not given enough oak to make them! always a glitch somewhere!

This is the 'larder' that houses the boiler in the top cabinet and the washing machine in the lower......it is made to look like a larder.

They still have a few little jobs to finish.

Hopefully, tomorrow I will have some Christmas decorations to show you.

Katie's kitchen is fab, particularly like the 'larder'. it's lovely. Also love your Christmassy sitting room, with and without candlelight! We've spent the past couple of days trying out paint swatches on our walls to get the blue in your sitting room, unsuccessfully! Will have to take the computer into the paintshop for a colour match!!

What a great kitchen Katie has got, you couldn't wish for anything nicer. How nice to know she will be coming home to this lovely organised space once baby is born, it should make things a little easier for her and her hubby. x

Oh wow - what a lovely kitchen Katie has now. I used to be able to click on your pix and make them bigger but since you had problems with your template they dont enlarge. Just in case you didnt know! Still no news on the move - I emailed the agent today for my weekly update of nothing and they didnt reply so now I am worried they darent tell me bad news! Can you remember my buyers agents who took forever to put their house back on the market. Well now I have had my second letter asking me if I want them to market my house as I havent sold it yet. This wasnt a flyer but a letter addressed to us - does that worry you that they arent aware that the website shows its sold and the buyers are with their agency. They scare me with their inefficiency and the worst thing is that the solicitor will pay them on the the day we move with no questions asked about the service they provided!! Off to bed now - night night

I am sure Katie is delighted with her new room and will enjoy cooking all the more!
Very interesting fact about the Belfast and Butler sinks... I never knew that.. I have a Belfast sink.
Water is certainly plentiful in Bath.. we have springs turning up all over the place.. in my front yard!
